Meat consumption

With this infographic I want to pick up another environmental topic. I just read an article about the meat consumption and its increase in the last years and that this has an effect on our climate. I asked myself if the worlds meat consumption and the CO2 emissions influence the global warming or not. After some research I created this infographic.

So what do you think about this graphic?

  1. Nice graphic! But what do you think how big is the influence of meat consumption on CO2 emissions? As I can see, China´s meat consumption is rising faster than the CO2 emissions increasing. xxx

    1. Thank you!
Regarding the influence of meat consumption on CO2 emissions, I think that the meat consumption has an influence on the rising of CO2 emissions, but it is just a part. In my opinion you have to consider the economic situation too. Because of the booming industry in china the wealth gets bigger and the people can afford buying more meat (which is relatively expensive).

  3. I like the color scheme you used for that graphic. Redish colors reflecting both red meat and the massive amount of co2 emissions. Nice to see how much you can say with hust using simple bar charts.
I have to say I never thought about the meat consumption influencing the global warmth...

    1. Hi linda! Thank you very much! I tried to create a very simple graphic by the use of bar charts to not distract from the content I wanted to transmit. Before I found the article I also not really thought about the influence of meat consumption. For this I wanted to share my results with the people.

  4. Hey Bettina! Congratulations on this infographic. I totally agree with Linda regarding your choice of colors. The red relates very much with the meat topic. I also like the fact that you usded simple bar charts but spiced the infographic up with images like the globus and the fire. Did you use the pen tool for this work?

    1. Hi! Thanks, eva! I´m pleased to hear that you like my infographic!
Yes, for creating the decorative part of my graphic I used the pen tool - It took quite a long time, but it is worth the work.
